Day 243: Control your thoughts or they will control you!

Wednesday, August 31, 2011

Via.

Have you ever had something on your mind that you didn't want to think about, but no matter how hard you tried you just couldn't stop thinking about it?!

Absolutely! I think everyone has, unless you are some kind of supersonic human robot that has a power on and power off button.

Take a moment and think about the thoughts that have been running through your mind lately.

Why are you thinking those thoughts? Are your thoughts affecting your life in a negative or positive way? Are your thoughts improving your life? Are your thoughts bringing you down? Are your thoughts giving you anxiety?

No matter how you answered these questions, your thoughts have changed your future forever. Think back to a week ago, or a month ago, or if you have a good memory think back to a year ago. Your previous and current thoughts control change in your life’s course. Your thoughts become integrated into your daily routine and will change the way you do things.

Thoughts turn into feelings, they affect your mood and your mood affects your attitude…thoughts will always have a chain reaction on your life... if you don’t control them properly they may harm your future.

Most of the time, you won’t even notice what your thoughts are contributing to your life.

It’s time to give your thoughts MORE attention. This will help you control your future.

I came up with today's blog subject after dwelling on a thought that was bringing me down, changing my mood, controlling my attitude and affecting my life negatively to the point where I was suffering unusual amounts of anxiety. My thoughts were controlling my life and I hate to admit it but they were controlling my life to the point where I Googled “How to get rid of anxiety”. So one night I said a prayer to God, asking Him to show me the way and how to get rid of my negative thoughts and dwelling. I said the same prayer over and over. The next morning I woke up feeling like a million bucks, now I'm not saying that some of the things that I was thinking were 100% gone but they faded and I put my energy towards something else. Miraculously, that day I came up with the perfect idea. I call it the Five Step Thought Challenge. It’s already changed my life forever.

So, you wanna know my newly established secret?..drum roll please...

The Five Step Thought Challenge:

  1. When a thought comes into your head, actually take the time to question yourself "Why am I thinking like this?".
  2. Attach whatever you are thinking to a personal value or moral of yours. Does it fit in with your values and morals? If not snap that thought out of your head right away.
  3. Ask yourself “How am I benefiting from this thought” and “Will this thought contribute good into my future?”
  4. If you like the way you answered those questions, then act upon your thoughts.
  5. If you don’t like the way you answered those questions, change your thoughts and start over.
Basically the goal of this process is to take the time and educate yourself on your thoughts. If you actually question what your thoughts are contributing to your life you are more likely to snap bad thoughts out of your head and only let good ones in.

I’ve been using this thought process every day since I came up with it. We all have thoughts but most of us don't question what we are thinking and that's why we end up thinking about the same negative crap over and over.

I'm proud to say that this new thought process is changing my life for the better and I love it. It’s easier for me to stop dwelling on unnecessary things and it’s also easier to squash negative thoughts.

Test your thoughts with the Five Step Thought Challenge and I guarantee your life will change forever.

Day 242: Slow your roll!

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

I hate sitting still, I like my fast pace go go go lifestyle and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I will never be satisfied if I stop and settle for what I have right now, my biggest passion in life is growing and learning.

I enjoy spending every day coming up with new ideas to improve my life and become a better person. But, sometimes I get caught up in planning a bigger and brighter future that I forget to live in today’s presence.

Some of us tend to get caught up in planning for the final outcome, that we lose track of what’s in-between.

The big picture won’t appear for months or maybe even years, so we need to learn so slow our roll and live in the present. When some of us plan for the big picture our goal is to think of as many ways to skip the small steps so we can get to the final product of our dream sooner rather than later but, remember BIG things don’t just happen over night! Ask any successful person. Big things are built over time.
Via.

We never know what’s going to happen in the future, you can dream of a huge outcome but it may never happen because in the next hour or day something unforeseen could happen in your life and your big picture will be transformed into something else.

Nothing in life is guaranteed, dream big and start small because all those minor details are what make up the big picture. Don’t skip any small steps because if you do you will eventually realize you will need to back track and fill those steps.

Live your future one day at a time, there’s no rush and if you do attempt to speed your way to your big picture--good luck but be careful because God may pull you over for speeding or throw a road block in your way (happens to the best of us, don't ya think?).

Day 241: Sky is NOT the limit???

Monday, August 29, 2011

Via.

Wakey wakey…Happy Monday!!!!

I would say go out and do whatever you want today “sky’s the limit,” but NO! Sky is not the limit because THERE ARE FOOTPRINTS ON THE MOON!  There are no limits on this Earth so follow your out of this world dream and prove to everyone that dreams you dare to dream can and WILL come true!

Accomplish this dream yourself. Always be you, be original and NEVER become a second-rate version of somebody else. We were all born with our own brain and our own thoughts…use your OWN mind to your advantage because this is the only way you will advance in life. You have ideas in your head that no one else could ever imagine, use those ideas and you will succeed!

Dream because you can, dream because you want to and dream for all those people that refuse to dream.

Never ever give up on your dreams, and when you feel like you’ve reached the point where you think you can no longer handle the obstacles…remember why you held on to your dream in the first place…do you remember? Okay there’s your second wind…start pursuing again!

Day 240: Creative lies

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Love Life is a battlefield.

What I don't understand is how people can tell lies and not even feel bad about it!

How can one person’s creativity cause you permanent heart and brain damage?(My definitions: Heart damage- Emotional, I don’t even have to explain we’ve all been there & Brain Damage-Something you will never forget, even if you tried.)

By creativity I mean creation of lies, exaggerating the truth, sugar coating things, blowing things out of proportion, hiding things. It’s amazing how people can get into their zone and create an incredible story or lack of story to make you feel better or worse about a situation in your life.

I believe many people in this world lack honesty.  It’s a shame that we have to constantly question people’s motives. It will be a beautiful day or probably a really UGLY day when people start being honest about EVERYTHING. But, it would make life blunt, strait to the point and easier.

If you think something is up with someone don’t accept their word and idea of reality. Don’t be afraid to go against the grain and ask tough questions to find out the truth. You are the only person that has control over your destiny and if you want the truth you have to seek it.

Seeking is the hardest part.

Most questions remain unanswered because people refuse to cooperate with honesty, but don’t be discouraged because anything worth knowing is worth fighting for. Seek the truth and you will eventually find it because all lies will be uncovered whether it’s today, tomorrow or 30 years from now.

Just be honest. If you are hiding something from someone just let it out of the bag now, before it blows out of proportion. If you think your dirty secret is horrible now and you wait any longer to let it out the consequences will be 100 times worse...trust me.

Let go of your demons and start over fresh. It may be a rocky fresh start but after the storm there will be a beautiful rainbow, I promise!

It is hard to believe that a man is telling the truth when you know that you would lie if you were in his place.  ~Henry Louis Mencken

If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything.  ~Mark Twain

Who lies for you will lie against you.  ~Bosnian Proverb

No man has a good enough memory to make a successful liar.  ~Abraham Lincoln

Those who think it is permissible to tell white lies soon grow color-blind.  ~Austin O'Malley

Day 239: Grow younger

Saturday, August 27, 2011

Remember when you were a little kid…you were fearless. You could attempt to do a back flip without being scared, you could get on a stage and do a silly dance and not think about how embarrassing it is, you could make blunt comments and people would laugh instead of getting mad at you, you could make up the wildest dreams and really think they will come true, you could truly get away with anything!

The older we get the more we shelter ourselves because we are smart enough to know the consequences of our actions but when you think about it maybe you should grow younger instead of growing older...

Adults need their inner child behavior to compliment their life. Think about how much more you would be able to accomplish if you had that fearless child mentality. Children always encourage dreams, and as adults we get scared because we are afraid of failing.

How much more would your life improve if you used your inner child to dream big and take risks without thinking about the consequences first???

Live life without limits, set some goals and take risks because in the end you may be rewarded with something more amazing than you ever imagined!

Day 238: Friends are vitamins to our soul and spirit!

Friday, August 26, 2011

Have you ever had a day when you’re feeling low and nothing’s going right, but then you receive a phone call, or a Facebook comment or a text message from a friend and it totally turns your attitude and day around?

Well lately I’ve have plenty of days like that. But it’s all good because my low days have taught me a lot about myself and my friends.

I’ve come to the conclusion that friends and family are the vitamins to our soul and spirit.

We should all be educated on how to nourish our bodies with food and exercise…but another important factor to being healthy is to know how to nourish your spirit.

Open your heart to your friends and family and you will feel the love and inspiration that will nourish your spirit. Once your spirit is replenished with positivity, inspiration and love the best side of you will shine.

Surround yourself with positive people that inspire you to do better and know how to cheer you up by simply saying hello.

But for some of us it’s hard to let people in….

Some people tend to build brick walls around their hearts. There is no way you can get the essential vitamins your spirit needs if you block them from coming in! Crush down that wall so your heart can start seeking inspiration from those who surround you. Once your heart is open you will get inspired by people and things that you were once to blind to see.

Inspiration comes in all shapes, sizes and disguises if you open your heart, inspiration will find its way in and your spirit will become brighter than ever before.

Friends and family are the vitamins to our spirit…hang out with them this weekend and let your spirit shine!

Have a great weekend!

Day 237: Find humor in all things.

Thursday, August 25, 2011

Laughter, it’s one of the only simple and pure joys that still exists on this planet. It’s so simple and easy a caveman can do it! Who knew one of the simplest joys in life could have such a positive impact on us. You might be feeling down and you may think there is absolutely nothing funny about the situation you are in…but think again. Our lives are overflowing with hilarious situations and people, but, most of us take life too seriously to notice or find the humor.

Think about the last time you tripped over something, were you embarrassed or did you laugh at yourself? Why are you embarrassed? No body cares! Laugh at yourself and you will be laughing with others!

If you find humor in everything in life you will never lose sense of it!

I’m one of those people who laugh at everything…even if it’s not that funny I will giggle. BUT not when someone gets hurt, that’s when my “motherly” instincts kick in and I make sure the person is okay before I can crack a laugh. Humor is a large part of how I communicate with the world. Yes I can be serious in any given situation but I naturally seek opportunities that I can throw in a ridiculous or sarcastic comment, or a silly joke.

Life is too short to hold grudges, be serious and be angry.  Leave room for laughter every day.

Learn how to laugh at your own mistakes and the world will laugh with you and not AT YOU!

We all make mistakes, but have self confidence and admit to them, then laugh…laughing helps you let go of the past and helps you bounce right pack into the present.

Laugh it up:

Day 236: Interested or Committed?

Wednesday, August 24, 2011

Are you semi-interested or fully committed to your goals?

Some of us peruse our goals with passion and determination, while others wait for the “perfect time” so they can get started on their goal…meaning when it’s more convenient for them. But those who say “I’ll have time later, or I’ll start later” will keep pushing the “perfect time” back and in the end their time on earth will be up before they get a chance to start!

People who are fully committed to their goals accept no excuses. They want results and they want them ASAP. If your goal is truly important to you don’t let anything or anyone stand in the way. Number one rule is to set your priorities in the beginning. Have a plan and make a commitment to yourself, you have the power to say ‘no’ to people that get in the way—don’t feel guilty about it, it’s your life and your goal-not theirs.

Don’t wait until it’s convenient to get started because you will be waiting forever.

Don’t wait until it’s convenient because when it becomes convenient you will wish you started a long time ago.

It’s time to fully commit to your goals, accept NO excuses…only results. Make a pledge to yourself and know the result of your goal is worth your time to create. When you are fully committed to your goals you are genuinely creating what currently means the most to you right now.

Take action and support your own choices by fully committing to your goals today, it doesn’t matter who you are or what you have; the first step to success is getting started

Day 235: Oh love...such a silly game we play

Tuesday, August 23, 2011

Two songs that have been stuck in my head for days! I think it’s a sign to write about love??

What is love?!

Love is dynamic. It changes every day, the love you have for something or someone can be full of energy one day and can fade the next.

Love is: trust.
Love is: respect.
Love is: accepting people just as they are.
Love is: communication.
Love is: building a friendship first.
Love is: finding beauty in flaw.
Love is: understanding you are never done growing.
Love is: when you never stop trying.
Love is: kind.
Love is: humor.
Love is: blind.
Love is: forgiving.
Love is: saying sorry.
Love is: an attitude of gratitude.
Love is: freedom.
Love is: exciting.
Love is: in the air!
Love is: silly.
Love is: patient.
Love is: secretive.
Love is: unconditional.
Love is: everywhere.

Love makes it happen. It’s up to you to discover what that “it” is.

I love you for reading and supporting my blog! Have a lovely Tuesday!

Day 234: I DARE you

Monday, August 22, 2011

Happy Monday!

Are you ready to take on a new week? Do you feel like you have been living inside your comfort zone? Well if you continue to live in the familiar you will never have the opportunity to grow.

This week I dare you to challenge yourself to take on one new daring thing every day. It doesn’t need to be extreme like jumping out of a plane or getting into a race car. Let the challenge be simple. Try a new hobby, or step into a community education class, try rock climbing, volunteer somewhere, try a new restaurant, ask someone out on a date or even exercise for an extra 5 minutes. Options are endless when it comes to challenging yourself. It can be as simple as eating a meal you have never tried before.

The whole point of taking up daily daring challenges is to discover who you want to be, who you don’t want to be, what you like and what you don’t like. Everything you try will move you one step closer to becoming the person you want to be and are meant to be.

So get out of your bubble and try something new every day this week, I double dog dare you!

Day 233: Serenity is an oasis

Sunday, August 21, 2011

No matter if it’s a Sunday or a Monday most of us live our lives in the fast lane.

Unfortunately, sometimes there are no timeouts and there are no slow lanes.

Life was simple when you were a little kid. No worries, no stress just Barbies and Matchbox cars. Oh that was the good life and we didn’t even know it.

Now that I’m older, two words describe my lifestyle “chaotic and full of urgency”.

In the midst of the craziness the best thing to do is take a step back and seek and pray for serenity.
Via.

Serenity is the oasis in the center of your crazy schedule. It’s the one place you can go to rediscover yourself and refuel before returning to the disarray.

Most of us don’t even realize or take the time to realize that all the chaos we go through is what creates our beautiful life.

One of my favorite ways to seek serenity is to grab a pen and paper and create a blessings list.

For once scratch that to-do list and create a list of things that you recognize are amazing in your life. This will give you time to focus on the positive and SMILE.

Via.

Get away, find a secret quiet place and write down all the blessings and amazing things that make up your life. Read and re-read all the things on that list and soak it all in.

Reading your blessings will help you discover serenity. It will make you realize that the chaos you  go through on a weekly basis is all worth it in the end.

So, stop the craziness for a moment, relax—smell the roses and take a closer look at the beautiful life you are creating for yourself. You are blessed!
