Day 151: "You block your dream when you allow your fear to grow bigger than your faith."

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Faith is like radar that sees through the fog.

I’ve had a dream/goal in my heart for over 3 years now…I started off strongly perusing it but recently I have encountered some roadblocks and it’s been hard to pick up the pace again.

So many times in life we have a dream in mind and right off the bat our passion fuels us to sprint so we can accomplish what we have in mind as fast as possible. It’s exciting…until you hit some type of roadblock and stumble upon some adversity. When we stumble, many times people will simply give up and take the easy road out. But we have to keep in mind what got us so fired up and excited in the first place.

It’s faith in something and enthusiasm for something that makes a life worth living.-Oliver Wendell Holmes

When it comes to perusing the finish line is doesn’t matter how the race starts. Life isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. If you start fast you might crash and burn in the early developments of your dream. Sometimes it’s nicer to jog and ease your pace so you can truly figure out how you want the outcome of your dream to be like. It’s not the start that counts…its how we finish. Stick with whatever your dreams are and motivate yourself to get all the way to the finish line. You can’t just stop at the half way mark or quarter mark just because times are tough. You can’t just quit because you don’t see anything happening. Have faith in yourself and make it happen.

Faith makes things possible, not easy

If you have a dream in your heart or if you believe you can do something- KEEP PURSUING IT! Everyone deserves a prize at the end of the bumpy road.

Never settle for less and don’t let others discourage you! You’re the only one who can determine if your dream will stay alive or die. In order to achieve anything in life it requires you to have faith and believe in yourself. The first step is to have a vision. You must work hard, be determined and dedicated!

Most importantly, all things are possible for those who believe J

Faith can move mountains, but don’t be surprised if God hands you a shovel.

Day 150: “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.”

Monday, May 30, 2011

“That's what it takes to be a hero, a little gem of innocence inside you that makes you want to believe that there still exists a right and wrong, that decency will somehow triumph in the end”- Lise Hand

What is Memorial Day anyway?

The meaning can sometimes get lost in translation between pool parties, traveling, barbecues and drink specials so sometimes it’s easy to forget what this holiday is truly about.

“Four things support the world: the learning of the wise, the justice of the great, the prayers of the good, and the valor of the brave" -Muhammad

For the past 143 years its purpose has been to honor Americans who have died in our nation’s wars since 1775…that’s over 1.8 MILLION American deaths.

According to, on May 5, 1868, Gen. John Logan officially proclaimed a Memorial Day holiday. It was celebrated on May 30 that year. It has since been moved to the final Monday in May.

So, God bless our soldiers and our country! Happy Memorial Day and remember those who gave up their lives for our freedom!

Have a happy, safe and fabulous day! Summer is officially here!

“The legacy of heroes is the memory of a great name and the inheritance of a great example.”- Benjamin Disraeli

Day 149: "Enthusiasm is excitement with inspiration, motivation and a pinch of creativity"

Sunday, May 29, 2011

Get excited and enthusiastic about you own dream. This excitement is like a forest fire - you can smell it, taste it, and see it from a mile away. ~ Denis Waitley

I've been dreaming about decorating my home lately. I have lived here for one year and I'm so indecisive and picky that I can’t decide how I want to decorate!

The light bulb in my head  FINALLY switched on last night and inspired me to move forward and make some changes around the house!

This summer is all about changes for me. Changing the house…changing my blog…and most importantly changing the color of my skin to a golden bronze ;)

I’m very excited to let my creativity out! It’s been trapped in me for all this time and now I want to explode it all over my house and make it a home.

I love my little humble abode!

I hope my energy rubs off on you today so you can move forward with something you have been putting off!

The creative habit is like a drug. The particular obsession changes, but the excitement, the thrill of your creation lasts. ~Henry Moore

Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning. ~ Gloria Steinem

Day 148: "New things cannot come where there is no room."

Saturday, May 28, 2011

Those who expect moments of change to be comfortable and free of conflict have not learned their history.  ~Joan Wallach Scott

This week was a roller coaster ride! I’m experiencing many changes in my life right now and it’s exciting and scary! My roommate is moving out and I am getting a new one! Eeeek! Scary but fun!

Yesterday I came home to a deserted house full of boxes in the garage…I didn’t know my roommate was going to move out so fast so it was shocking! But at the same time it was very neat…I spent my Friday night reorganizing my kitchen (Yeah I am LAME) but I'm glad I did it! It feels like I just moved in again…maybe I should throw another house warming party ;) You're all invited :-)

Anyhoo.  Sometimes change is a good thing it’s a chance to start over, rejuvenate your mind and thoughts to create something bigger and better in your life.

Continuity gives us roots; change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow and reach new heights.  ~Pauline R. Kezer

Change is never comfortable! You know that feeling when you start a new job?  You're uncomfortable because you’re the “new guy” but after awhile you get cozy and people warm up to you making it comfortable....Later down the road you get a promotion…once again another change and you will be uncomfortable for a while then after creating a routine you will get cozy.

That’s the circle of life we change-we get uncomfortable-then we get cozy-then we go through another change- we get uncomfortable and boom we get cozy again!

The secret to loving and accepting change is your attitude towards long as you are optimistic about change it will work out for the best!

We all have big changes in our lives that are more or less a second chance.  ~Harrison Ford

Day 147: "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference."

Friday, May 27, 2011

It doesn't matter how long we may have been stuck in a sense of our limitations. If we go into a darkened room and turn on the light, it doesn't matter if the room has been dark for a day, a week, or ten thousand years - we turn on the light and it is illuminated. Once we control our capacity for love and happiness, the light has been turned on. - Sharon Salzberg

Happy Friday!

I’m sure everyone’s week has been filled with ups and downs but, it’s the way you go about day to day challenges that  makes living worthwhile….life is full of opportunities and we must be optimistic about every situation that we encounter.

It’s no big secret that the power of positive thinking affects our frame of mind, and it can be contagious. When we're happy and spread that positive-infectious-optimistic -attitude not only does it attract MORE positive energy but it draws more people towards you!

When you are surrounded by positive and happy people it has a tremendous affect on your can make you feel balanced which means you will be more productive with your time!

Happiness is not a matter of events; it depends upon the tides of the mind.- Alice Meynell

A perfect example of this "positive attitude vibe" happened at my work yesterday. For the past month it’s been very serious in the newsroom because of rating season…and finally yesterday rating season was officially over! You could just feel it in the atmosphere, the vibe in the newsroom went from quiet zone-serious attitude to relaxed and full of smiles! At one point during the evening I messaged one of my favorite co-workers and said “The vibe in the newsroom tonight is awesome!”…Everyone was relaxed, easy going, cracking jokes (Yet, still working hard) and the atmosphere was amazing! The positive attitudes made me want to work harder and being there was worthwhile…I was so smitten...I love my job!

In conclusion: Positive attitudes are a beautiful thing. Have one and SPREAD IT!

Day 146: "Life is short, but there is always time enough for courtesy."

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Last night I was walking out of the gym with both hands full. I was approaching the front doors when I saw 5 guys standing right outside the door. They literally looked over and all watched me struggle to open the door with full hands and NOT ONE came to help or to even open the door for me. I was appalled! I finally got the door to open and I walked passed them glaring and thinking in my head what a bunch of rude dudes! How could a group of people be so rude…you would think at least one would get the door right? Nope! Shocking really…but I guess it inspired me to write today…

Politeness is the art of choosing among your thoughts.
- Madame de Stael

People need to learn how to be courteous to others. Being courteous shows your true character. You are either respectful of others or rude to others.

“Courtesies of a small and trivial character are the ones which strike deepest in the grateful and appreciating heart.”
-Henry Clay

To be courteous simply means putting yourself in other people’s shoes before you do something. It means doing something polite without being asked/nagged and not just once, but all the time.

There is always time for courtesy and manners but some people are lazy or “too busy” to show any kind of common courtesy. People are so preoccupied with their own lives, and everything they have to do so they pass up opportunities to be courteous to others…and that’s just sad.

Life is short, but there is always time enough for courtesy.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Just remember every time you are courteous to others it’s a blessing to them, and while you are someone else’s blessing you are being blessed by doing little things for someone in need. What goes around comes around, so open doors, shake hands, greet people, be polite, be respectful, and show manners with grace…and you will be blessed in return X 10!

“The greater man the greater courtesy.”
-Alfred Tennyson

Day 145: Wishing & Waiting

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

My whole life I've been told “time heals”. But does it really heal if you just sit there and wait?

Wishing and waiting will not get you anywhere. Time doesn’t heal…it’s what you do with the time that heals

Everything in life is a working progress and process. We can’t just sit there and expect things to work out in our favor.

We can spend our whole life not understanding why things happen to us. Many of us just sit there and listen to the spiel “time heals” while others go out and educate themselves on how to heal. The saying “Time heals” is a never ending cycle…you wait and you wait…sometimes during that wait a miracle happens and provides us with extraordinary strength to overcome something, but, other times it’s up to you to heal yourself.

After all, you learn more in the darkness than you do in the light.

We all want world peace right? Well how is world peace supposed to happen if we can’t even heal our own internal conflicts and battles? Word peace will not happen until everyone finds peace in their own mind.

We are all responsible for our own actions and it’s up to you to focus on your own problems. It’s up to you to look for a solution that will heal a circumstance that seems to be beyond your control. For every problem there is a solution…it just takes a focused state of mind to find the answer.

I know from personal experience that if you concentrate on your problems with determination and desire to heal, then you will get through anything. No one can do this for you. It takes inner strength and power to overcome things that cross your path during your lifetime.

The mind is very powerful and most of us seek other places before we sit down and really try to use another level of mind to help ourselves heal. The hardest part is learning how to access and use that other level of mind. But once you tap into it, you can heal yourself. Once you heal yourself from misery, pain, or whatever it is your struggling with, then you can move on to solving world peace.

Life is all about learning how to become the master of your own mind. You can heal yourself and your own problems, but the first step is for you to WANT to find the answer to those problems. Some people make excuses on why they can’t get better, and I think that’s because they are afraid to be free.

Day 144: Go away writers block!

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

"You don't start out writing good stuff. You start out writing crap and thinking it's good stuff, and then gradually you get better at it. That's why I say one of the most valuable traits is persistence."
Octavia Butler

For the past 3 days I’ve been having trouble with my thoughts. At this point in time I have a huge plate full of projects. My emotions get tied up in every project and, every person I deal with within a project. Sometimes most times, the biggest emotion I struggle with is anxiety, which leaves me absolutely dYsfUnctioNaL.

My job is to write, and when I have a lot on my mind I get anxious and my brain simply shuts down- hello writer’s block! Writers block is a nightmare! But I am slowly teaching myself ways to get rid of it.

Whenever I can’t get my mind away from certain thoughts or ideas I'll write down everything that I'm thinking about…kind of like a journal/to-do list…but more of a “to-don’t (think about)list”. Then I pick apart every thought and ask myself some questions to simplify those thoughts. The key here is to be optimistic and never give your thoughts pessimistic feedback, because that will only make you feel more anxious.

If writing your thoughts down on paper is not for you then play a game. You know, something easy and tedious like solitaire or a crossword puzzle. And if that doesn't work call a friend. Being social can change your thoughts or even let you forget about them briefly.

Lastly, if none of the above help you then go for a walk! Do something physical! Physical activity will increase blood flow to your brain and release nervous tension…it’s a great way to get rid of stress too!

If you’re in school, working or blogging I hope this helps you cope with writers block! J Happy writing!

"I think writer's block is simply the dread that you are going to write something horrible. But as a writer, I believe that if you sit down at the keys long enough, sooner or later something will come out."
Roy Blount, Jr.

"If I waited for perfection, I would never write a word."
Margaret Atwood

"I've often said that there's no such thing as writer's block; the problem is idea block."
(Jeffery Deaver)

Day 143: "With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts."

Monday, May 23, 2011

Happy Monday!

One of my secrets to living a blissful life is to have more beginnings than endings. Today is Monday, a new beginning, a new week to start fresh. Last week’s words belong to last week’s language and this week’s words await a new voice.

Learn from last week’s language and use that knowledge to change yourself for the better. Use your new voice to recreate yourself, your thoughts, your dreams, your goals and your opinions.

You woke up today with another chance to get it right and when the world screams “just quit while you’re ahead!” you have to tune it out and listen to hope when it whispers “try it one more time”. That’s the only way you will accomplish your dreams.

It’s your world and people are just living in it, don’t let anyone’s opinions ever stop you from doing what you love because in the end everyone who tells you to “quit” will look like a fool.

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. - Albert Einstein

Day 142: To appreciate all the people in your life is to make life less difficult for them.

Sunday, May 22, 2011

I am having MAJOR writers block for today’s blog… I literally wrote three and erased them all, then started over...I have been in the sun all day and my brain is just fried…so bear with me…
Today my wonderful, fabulous friend Candi took 6 hours out of her weekend to take new photos of me for my upcoming redesigned blog! She will be spending lots of time making them pretty and I can't thank her enough!
I feel so grateful and appreciative to have her in my life.
Actually, I am grateful for all the wonderful people that are in my life. Whether it’s family, best friends, friends, acquaintances, co-workers…they all mean the world to me.
I am blessed to have some pretty darn awesome people in my life. And when I really think about it, it all makes sense…I've always had a big heart. I genuinely love everyone that's a part of my life. I believe if you appreciate everything and everyone you have in your life at this moment, you will attract more remarkable people in the future.
To appreciate all the people in your life is to make life less difficult for them. I want to help where I can, I want to bring out the best in people, I want people to trust that I will be there, I want to inspire people to do what they love…I just want everyone to feel loved and appreciated. There is not one part of me that wants to see a person go down.
Every day I tell at least one person something I appreciate, adore, love, admire or like about them. One positive word or opinion can leave such a great impact. So pay it forward with the compliments this week!
OK. Time to rest my head so I can come up with a fabulous blog for tomorrow! Night night!

“If you need me, call me. No matter where you are, no matter how far. Just call my name. I'll be there in a hurry. On that you can depend and never worry.”- Diana Ross

Day 141: 'Til the world ends

Saturday, May 21, 2011

There are people who believe today the world will come to an end…well…I’m a strong believer in God and HELLO! I’m still here. I don’t know why people tamper with the thought of “dooms day”.
I don’t believe in any date that has been tampered with by mankind. But, I do believe that God will come when he is ready.
I don’t know why people are “preparing” for the world to end…what on Earth is there to prepare for? Either you’re a good person or a bad person…God see’s you, he known’s what you’ve been up to. If you feel like you have to change just because the end of the world is coming that’s pretty darn sad.
You should live everyday like it’s your last, not scurry at the last hour in time and apologize for being someone you are not proud of.
Today is your wakeup call.
Confront all the dark spots in your soul, you know, the parts that are tainted with negativity. Work hard over the next few months to banish them. When you banish your dark spots, don’t forget to forgive yourself and never get down on yourself for all the bad things you have done. If you hurt because of tainted memories…use this pain as a fuel to keep going and as a reminder of your strength. It’s not easy to forgive yourself for the harm you have caused in other people’s lives but in order to move on and live a beautiful life; forgiveness is the only thing you have on your side.
Be good, be strong, be wise, and never let anyone stop you from being you. You are a candle trying to share your light with others…but there will always be someone in this world trying to blow you out.
One day, when I am still alive, there will come a day where this will change. There will be peace and everyone will share the light.
Don’t get mad at those who try to blow you out…it takes a strong heart to be able to remove imperfections from others without thinking evil of them…people are not evil…they just need guidance to get to the light.
We all go through tough times, we feel pain, we feel sorrow and the only thing that goes through our mind is when is this going to be over?
Once that period of time has come to an end you can only look back and realize that your deepest pain has become one of your greatest strengths. It’s a beautiful thing. We never see our strength growing when we are weak…but it is.
The strong ones survive and when we our fighting our own battles we must keep in mind that this is the only chance we will get at life. It’s all about what you take from it and how much you give back. There will be good times and bad times, we learn during both. We were all born with hearts filled with love, so love deeply, treat everyone with respect and don’t predict the future. God works in mysterious ways...and I believe everything that happens in life, happens for a reason. We may not know the reason at the time, but eventually we will learn why and take all those experiences to create something good.
Are you still here?! Yes…yes you are, the WORLD is stillllll here J

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power. If you realize that you have enough, you are truly rich.
-- Tao Te Ching

The size of your success is measured by the strength of your desire; the size of your dream; and how you handle disappointment along the way.
-- Robert Kiyosaki

Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.
-- Rachel Carson

Day 140: Friday I'm in love...with this creative proposal and commercial!

Friday, May 20, 2011

“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun." -Mary Lou Cook

Some people say they are not creative, but the reality is we are all born with a creative trait. You were all given a box of crayons in Kindergarten right? Well that’s where it all began. Some of us drew in the lines others drew out of the lines…some of us drew stick figures and others drew life like characters. But no matter what we did we created our own little masterpiece, brought it home and our parents proudly hung them up on their refrigerator…even if the paper only had scribbles all over it.

“The creative person is both more primitive and more cultivated, more destructive, a lot madder and a lot saner, than the average person.”  -Frank Barron

As we get older we are given more and more tools to express ourselves. We can observe others to gain ideas and we can feed of off one small idea and turn it around into something huge OR we can come up with something creative that no one else has thought of…

“Creativity comes from trust. Trust your instincts. And never hope more than you work.” Rita Mae Brown

At work I was looking for an “odd story” online and I came across this link…it was not odd, but it was one of the most creative proposals I have ever seen! Not gonna lie I am super jealous of this bride-to-be…What a creative boyfriend! Check it out (pause music at the bottom of this page).

Perfection! To be creative is to be differnt. Don't follow trends and don't be afraid of what others will think about your creation. Just do whatever your heart matter what there will always be one person that doesn't like your creation. We all have our individual thought and opinions. Creativity is all about taking take risks and show the world what you've got....

“Never tell people how to do things.  Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.”  -George Smith Patton

The same day I found this video my friend posted “A Love Story…In Milk”…
Now watch this one...

Two love stories…two completely different impacts—both genius!

Hope these videos left you warm and fuzzy…well at least I hope the second video taught you to recycle!

Happy Friday!

“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” Scott Adams

Day 139: “If people are trying to bring you down, be proud of it. It only confirms that you're above them.”

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Every day I spend some alone time to daydream about something inspirational. Things that happen to me during the day trigger my thoughts and that’s when I decide what to blog about. I love doing this it makes me happy and it’s a great way to express my philosophies on life and hopefully inspire people to ponder my personal opinions and thoughts on life.

When I first started my blog I could not believe the positive e-mails from strangers around the world who were reading MY blog and giving me positive feedback! I was happy to inspire ONE person but after getting so much great feedback it made me feel really blessed that my words inspire more than ONE person.

My blog is something very ironic in my daily routine...…

For those of you that are new, I'm an associate producer at Fox 10 Phoenix, AZ. I write for the news full time …I spend an average work day writing about shootings, fires, rapes, child abuse, killings and all this other nasty stuff that goes on in this world…then I come home, lay in bed and think about something positive and inspirational to blog about so I can sleep peacefully…

For the first time yesterday I received a bitter e-mail about my blog form a reader. I could not believe what this person said. Here I am an innocent blogger trying to inspire the world one day at a time and someone tries to crush my optimistic and positive spirit! Yeah, I write at 2:00am sometimes and I might have a few spelling errors or grammar mistakes but there is no reason for anyone to be negative Nancy about it! There is a major difference between constructive criticism and attacking someone with bitter words…this person attacked! Eeek!

The e-mail was rude, but it made me happy because someone took time out of their life to put together a blah e-mail…which only gave me something to ponder about and now my thoughts have turned into today's blog…so here I go!

One of the greatest challenges in life is to stay true to ourselves and the spirit that exists inside of us. Many people will try to put you down on your journey to the top, but, you have to stay strong in order to survive and get where you want to be.

There are many people that will tell you what they think you are or what they think you should be…but they have no right! We can be whoever we want to be. When people pressure you and tell you what to be or what to do it’s easier for you to give in and do whatever they think is right for you, instead of doing what you think is right for you.

This is exactly why I love my alone time. When I am in a peaceful environment by myself it’s easier for me to think about my life and what I want to do with it. Having a peaceful moment to yourself will bring out your deeper wisdom; it will help you remember your aspirations and top priorities without getting influenced by the desires, pressures and concepts of those who you surround yourself with.

But, maybe you don’t like being a loner like me!? Well here’s a piece of good advice…find friends that support your goals and make sure they want to see you be the best you can be. That’s the only way you will grow, because if you have people constantly bringing you down…you will shrivel.

Sometimes we don’t have a choice when it comes to surrounding ourselves with people. Maybe your friend brings over another person that you dislike and they bring you down, or you are stuck in a work environment with someone that brings you down. Well use these people and these experiences as opportunities to practice keeping your strength of character…don’t let the Debbie Downers get to you because it will make you weak. Prove them wrong and be strong, show them nothing can stop you and ruin your day. They are certainly not worth it!

My main point today is: Don’t focus on what others think about you, focus on what you think of yourself. If you are happy and an amazing person don’t let anyone criticize you about it! Ignore the bitter ones they are just jealous because they don’t have that beautiful personality in their soul. To be bitter to someone else only shows your true colors…and those colors are ugly!

The most important thing in a happy life is to have whatever you want and need and NOT what other people think you should want and need. There is no one in this world to impress. We are all human, not one is superior than another. Strip people of their money, status, clothes, cars and we would ALL BE THE SAME!  After all, we’re just humans sharing a planet together trying to survive.

The man who makes everything that leads to happiness depend upon himself, and not upon other men, has adopted the very best plan for living happily. – Plato
