Day 120: Stay Classy

Saturday, April 30, 2011

It’s funny how we all live in our own little worlds. Some people have high standards and some people have none. I have a strong belief that everyone should stay classy. And no, classy doesn’t mean snobby, having class is all about taking care of yourself, having style, manners, and being polite to everyone around you no matter who they are, where they come from or what color they are. It’s all about being genuine, generous, responsible, compassionate and selfless.

Class comes naturally, but it’s almost as though you have to surround yourself with others that want to be classy and like being classy. Once you start surrounding yourself with trash you become trash or people automatically assume you are trash. So make sure you chose the right friends…those who share the same morals and values as you.

Most people judge a book by its cover. Yes it’s wrong and sad but let’s all admit we do it sometimes. So in order to come off as classy think about what you wear because a good presentation is the first impression of the class battle. Its starts with your wardrobe. Define your own style of class. Find things that flatter your body, and most importantly feel comfortable. Be modest, and ladies a bit of cleavage is stylish and fashionable, but a true gentleman will always appreciate modesty, more than half your breasts popping out…be a little mysterious.

A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.
Coco Chanel

Treat people with class. Don’t be a flake, give people notice if you are going to cancel on them, defend others and speak up for them if you are on their side because there are many people who can’t deal with conflict and sometimes you just have to stand up for them. It’s not classy to be late, or stand someone up. It happens to so many people every year…especially on important days like birthdays--it’s sad.

When you speak to people watch your words. Don’t insult people, voice your own opinion appropriately as necessary and make sure it’s constructive because the last thing you want to do is add fuel to the fire. Don’t be a gossiper because it will bite you in the butt eventually. Show people respect and give them the benefit of doubt.

Most importantly be you. Stay true to yourself. Be real with others. And only do things that make you proud. Don’t be fake or a flake, a person of true honor and integrity never needs to hide behind a mask. Surround yourself with kind, positive, polite people who encourage you to live a classy and intelligent lifestyle.

Day 119: A Royal Wedding

Friday, April 29, 2011

Prince William isn’t the only one in love with Kate Middleton….I must say over the past couple of weeks I have fallen in love with her too…and it appears as though the whole world is caught up in this royal romance. At work I have been watching all the Royal Wedding wires in my down time, I think I know more about that wedding then the wedding planner!

Princess Catherine is beautiful, intelligent, charming, natural, poised, has great teeth, amazing smile, sexy legs and stunning hair…what’s not to like?! Prince William comments about her good sense of humor and says she’s down to earth…how could you not want to marry that?

He's lucky to be going out with me.
-Kate Middleton

What I love most about this fairy tale is that Princess Catherine was just a commoner. She was an average Jane, going to school; bargain shopping she came from a normal family and people doubted that she would become Princess. After dating William for a while her nick name became Waity Katie because she was just waiting for him to pop the question. Their relationship was under a telescope.  But you know what this is an ordinary couple facing an extraordinary life. No matter what their royal circumstances are they continue to say that they want to live as normal as possible.

I am typing this up as I watch the wedding…it’s 2:30am… I am snuggled up in bed and so delirious, excuse me if I stop making sense.

The wedding is a constant reminder of Princess Diana…I wish she could be here today to watch this fairy tale fall into place. She was an amazing and classy woman and I am glad that Princess Catherine is like her. Young women can look up to Kate. They can relate to her down to earth personality, beauty, and classy style.

With the media up in the royal couples business they take it extremely well…all their public interviews and interrogations are handled perfectly. I think what makes this couple intriguing is that it’s a modern day couple, two normal people in love, they have fun together and I think it’s refreshing. They are exactly what the country needs…Cheers to the next generation of royals!!!

Princess Catherine and Prince William announced plans to live in North Wales…that’s where Prince William is stationed with the Royal Air Force.

What a romantic love story! Why doesn’t America have royalty?! We are boring!

….Okay now back to full attention on the wedding…It’s now 3:25am and they are officially Husband and Wife…Prince and Princess…and I’m so tired!

Well I think if you really go out with someone for quite a long time you do get to know each other very, very well, you go through the good times, you go through the bad times. You know both personally, but also within a relationship as well.
~Kate Middleton

Day 118: “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are”

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Every human is born unique.  We view the world in our own personal context. We all grow up differently, our previous experiences and people that we’ve crossed paths with have taught us good and bad. Regardless of what others teach us, we will forever have our own opinions.

That’s the beauty of having a mind of your own. The way you view a situation could be opposite of what the person next to you thinks. We all love being right and having our own way. There are billions of people on this planet and each one wants it their way. No wonder there are so many conflicts and wars going on. We need to practice patience with each other.

We depend on our background of personal experience, parental control, life lessons, dispositions, conflicts, etc, to help us decide what to do in given situations. But, I think the biggest problem is learning the beauty of patience instead of lashing out on someone after they say something. Try putting yourself in their shoes or explaining to them your own opinion without getting snappy.

People fight because they have their own personal notions about what something should or should not be.

Before your voice starts to shout, think about each other’s opinions and look at the pros and cons. In the end most fights start because people do not have patience with each other and instead they have short tempers.  You can’t resolve anything comfortably when you are yelling, or bickering so if you are having problems with someone sit down and have a chat about it before it gets out of control.

You can chain me, you can torture me, you can even destroy this body, but you will never imprison my mind.
-Mohandas Gandhi

Day 117: “The positive thinker sees the invisible, feels the intangible, and achieves the impossible.”

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Happy Hump Day!

Only 2 more days until it’s the weekend! Wednesday’s are usually a bumpy ride for me but hey at the end of the tunnel there’s always a light and before you know it, it will be Friday night! I know. Cheezy..but true!

Be grateful you are working because many others are not. Be grateful you are going to school because others don't get the chance to. Be grateful you get a vacation because some people work every single day of their life and never get a vacation. Be happy you are alive because others are not. Be strong and go a day without complaining about anything because there are millions of people out there facing bigger problems then yourself.

Life is tough, but your Wednesday that you consider rocky doesn’t compare to another person’s Wednesday- maybe they lost their job, lost their home, were a victim of a vicious crime, or a terrible accident…keep that thought in the back of your mind today and think about how blessed you are with all the things you have in your life. Don’t complain! Life is what you make it and you can make it beautiful!

"When life's problems seem overwhelming, look around and see what others are coping with. You may consider yourself fortunate." - Ann Landers

P.S: I love the new Britney Spears’ “Femme Fatale” Album…obsessed! You should check it out!...

Day 116: "Some days there won't be a song in your heart. Sing anyway."

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

Do you ever bust out singing in the shower, or in the car, or when you are sloshed while doing karaoke or while cleaning your dirty kitchen? Well if you don’t then you should start! In the health wire on Fox last night there was a study on how singing is good for your health.

Those who wish to sing always find a song.  ~Proverb

Embrace singing and put it into your daily routine. If you’re driving to work then turn up that radio and bust out your big voice…this ancient way of expressing yourself not only feels great but it will enhance your well being, reduce feelings of pain and even prolong your life…if that’s true then I am going to live forever. I sing every day…really loud when I am alone in my car…no wonder I am such a happy lil thing!

"When we sing instead of speak, we have intonation, melody line, and crescendo, which gives us a broader vocabulary to express ourselves, because singing is visceral (relating to, or affecting, our bodies), it can't help but effect change." -Suzanne Hanser, chair of the music therapy department at Berklee College of Music

According to Patricia Preston-Roberts, a board-certified music therapist in New York City, studies have linked singing with a lower heart rate, decreased blood pressure, and reduced stress.

"Some people who have been traumatized often want to leave the physical body, and using the voice helps ground them to their bodies….Singing also seems to block a lot of the neural pathways that pain travels through." -Preston-Roberts

Many studies have found that singing also enhances immunity and well-being. A study at the University of Frankfurt in Germany, found that people who are in choir have higher levels of immunoglobulin A and cortisol (markers of enhanced immunity) after they sang Mozart's "Requiem" than before.

Along with that study, members of a choir filled out questionnaires to report their physical and psychological reactions to singing. Results came back and every member had improved lung capacity, high energy, and better posture and enhanced feelings of relaxation, mood and confidence.

I don't sing because I'm happy; I'm happy because I sing.  ~William James

The more I think about it the more it makes sense. When I am angry I will put on some type of rock music and sing it out loud and it makes me feel better…or on the contrary when I hear a good song on the radio I sing it out loud and it puts me in a fantastic mood!

So next time you say no to getting on that karaoke stage…think again and get up there because singing out loud is good for your health!

Life is a song.  Love is the music.  ~Author Unknown

Day 115:“Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.”

Monday, April 25, 2011

We do not remember days, we remember moments. The richness of life lies in memories we have forgotten."
Cesare Pavese

Since my family is in town we have been reminiscing about all the things we used to do when we were kids. It’s amazing how someone brings up a memory that you thought you forgot but it triggers something in your mind and you remember.

Life goes by so fast and it seems like unless there is a photograph to look at, we seem to forget things faster. I think we need to slow down our busy lives a notch and live to learn and take time to observe what is around us wherever we are and never forget everything that a person or place leaves within our heart.

When my sister and cousins were little, every Saturday we had to go to Polish school…3 of us would sit in the back seat and play a game called “corners”. Every time the car turned we would have to lean and crush whoever is closest to the car door. These little carless and silly moments in life that last only seconds live on forever.

A smile happens in a flash, but its memory can last a lifetime.

Sometimes we drive, or see people, or go places there many things that we don’t point out or concentrate on but we still remember seeing that person or scenic view…it is surprising how much we remember and how much memory is established and built around things that go unnoticed at that certain point in time. Our brains are pretty dang smart.

We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they're called memories. Some take us forward, they're called dreams.

Some memories are funny, some great, some sad, some painful…I think things are remembered because they are supposed to be for a reason. It’s not good to block any memories of the past. Even if they make you are not supposed to hide anything because every memory you manage to live though is what makes you the person you became today.

We cannot change our memories, but we can change their meaning and the power they have over us
David Seamands

Day 114: Happy Easter!!!

Sunday, April 24, 2011

“On Easter Sunday, Christians celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, Jesus Christ. It is typically the most well-attended Sunday service of the year for Christian churches.

Christians believe, according to Scripture, that Jesus came back to life, or was raised from the dead, three days after his death on the cross. As part of the Easter season, the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion is commemorated on Good Friday, always the Friday just before Easter. Through his death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for sin, thus purchasing for all who believe in him, eternal life in Christ Jesus.”

Easter is not all about the fuzzy bunny or the delicious chocolate eggs…

For years and years Easter has been known as a special time to get together with friends and family and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Easter represents a time of rebirth and glorious new beginnings. It’s the season of hope and fulfilling expectations. No matter how discouraged you have been lately keep in mind that the resurrection of Jesus put’s in perspective that no matter what your circumstances are there is always a meaning for everything that falls into your path. Meaning will give you direction and the opportunity to start over again…no matter what your circumstances are.

Today is the day that the magic of spring comes to life…it’s about spending time with your close friends and family. Eat up, drink up and enjoy every moment of it. Be sure to share laughter with loved ones, play games and eat delicious food.

Let today bring out the best values in life: love, care, friendship, creation, truth and beauty.

Happy Easter!!! Have an AMAZING day!!!

Day 113: "Two souls, one heart." Congratulations Jana & Adam!!!!!!!

Saturday, April 23, 2011

Two souls, one heart.  ~French saying

Yesterday was Good Friday and yes indeed it was GOOD!

I was sitting at work super excited because my childhood friend/cousin Adam was coming into town from Australia with his girlfriend Jana. I have not seen him for 11 years!!! I was so excited I could not wait to get off work and hang out with them. During work I called my parents house because I wanted to see what everyone was doing without me…

My mom told me Jana has some news! But she wouldn’t tell me what…I jumped to the conclusion that she was pregnant…but my mom stopped me right there because Jana is not pregnant it was something else…then we hung up. I sat at work even MORE excited because they all knew something I didn’t know yet.

At 10:00 I jetted out of work…okay maybe I snuck out a few minutes early…pushed the pedal to the metal and jammed over to my folk’s house…

I walk through the door…give hugs and kisses and sit at the table…I ask WHAT’S THE BIG NEWS?! Jana held up her hand and showed me a big fat princess cut diamond ring...

The highest happiness on earth is marriage.  ~William Lyon Phelps

I am beyond happy for the both of them…I have to share their love story

Adam and Jana have been together forever it seems like…on September 14th it will be there 5th year anniversary…September 14th is an AWESOME day because ironically it’s my birthday!

Love does not consist of gazing at each other, but in looking together in the same direction.  ~Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Anyways…Jana has been obsessed with the movie Just go with it…if you don’t know what movie that is here is the trailer…since she saw this trailer she has been asking Adam “where is my circle? I want a circle?” She wasn’t nagging…she was just being cute. .. (Fast forward the trailer to 43 seconds and you will know what I am talking about).

When Adam and Jana arrived in the United States their first few trips were in California. They took a trip to San Francisco to see the Golden Gate Bridge. Little did Jana know, she was in for the biggest surprise of her life…

Adam proposed to Jana on the bridge!!!!

Anyone can catch your eye, but it takes someone special to catch your heart.  ~Author Unknown

What I love about this magical story is that he traveled all the way from Australia with a huge diamond ring in his wallet...Not only was Adam traveling…going through security at airports  and customs with this big thing in his wallet he was the ONLY person that knew about it. He didn’t tell his mom or his sister or Jana’s parents… it was his big fat secret that he was clinging on to. He didn’t want anyone to ruin his big moment!

After he asked Jana to be his wife he pulled out this baggy from his wallet pocket, the ring was wrapped up super tight and super secure…Jana was opening and peeling tons of layers …it was taking her so long she thought there wasn’t anything in there. After a few long seconds of unraveling bubble wrap and all sorts of plastic the diamond appeared and it all became real. She was ENGAGED!  circle and all!

When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.  ~Nora Ephron

Jana finally received her circle she has been waiting for -for the past 5 years! I am beyond excited for the both of them. They make a truly amazing couple!

Love is a game that two can play and both win.  ~Eva Gabor

Congratulations Adam and Jana I couldn’t be happier for the both of you!!!

True love stories never have endings.  ~Richard Bach

Day 112: Happy Good Friday!

Friday, April 22, 2011

“Good Friday is observed on the Friday before Easter Sunday. On this day Christians commemorate the passion, or suffering, and death on the cross of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Many Christians spend this day in fasting, prayer, repentance, and meditation on the agony and suffering of Christ on the cross.”

Today I will appreciate and ultimately try to comprehend the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us.

I can only imagine what that Friday was like. Such a dark, painful and discouraging day. But you know what when his enemies thought they got them best of him by painfully nailing His hands and Feet to the cross…God didn't give up- he simply had other plans.

You might know the story from here…Enemies put Him in the grave today and all celebrated the victory of Him being gone. But the forces of darkness couldn’t contain him…on the third day he came out of that grave and He said "I was dead, but now I am alive forevermore!"
What a miracle. This story teaches us all that God will always help us finish what He started. Whatever He puts on our plate He will guide us to be where we need to be. No matter how many dark moments we face, no matter how long it takes us, no matter how many people get in our way and bring us down, no matter how bumpy of a ride it is to get to your final destination if you keep faith God will always be there helping and guiding you so you can finish what you started.

This story has influenced and inspired MILLIONS of people around the world.
I give all my respect and tributes to the cross today…I am a very very very blessed person and He is to thank.

Have a blessed day!

Day 111: Enhanced awareness for life- Jonathan Harris project:Today...INCREDIBLE

Thursday, April 21, 2011

(pause my blog's music on the bottom of this page and listen to Jonathan Harris...)

This man-Jonathan Harris has inspired me to get a camera. He is truly amazing and gave me the goose bumps.  Isn’t it amazing how 365 photographs can give a person so much knowledge, wisdom, outlook, passion, inspiration? I am truly inspired and everything this man says I completely understand and just want to give him a freaking hi-five! I want to meet this fella for coffee or tea or whatever he drinks! The depths of his thoughts just touch my soul…

I must say in the past 111 days I have morphed into a different person…every night for 2 hours I lay in sit in my bed and think about something to blog about for the next day. I pick a subject and then day dream and write out everything that comes to mind.

Life gets chaotic and we forget to take time and appreciate how beautiful life truly is. Lying in bed and pondering about inspirational subjects is one of the best projects I could have ever thought of. It makes me love and appreciate life more than I ever have before. It has enhanced and made me aware of the things that truly matter.
What matters the most is what is in our soul and the beautiful nature that has been blessed upon us on this earth.

I have always had such a great memory. I am obsessed with remembering everything…I love to snap photo’s when something amazing happens or even doesn't happen… Jonathan Harris has inspired me to get a camera I already know what blogging project I am taking on next year…A photo every day. I might not be a professional photographer but I guess if I start practicing now by January 1, 2012 I will be good…and even if I am not-everyone has their unique style ;)  (If anyone knows of a camera… under $1,000 that is reasonably easy to use PLEASE comment below and fill me in! Thank you!)

Wow, Talking about January 1, 2012 makes me miss this blog already. My goal is to leave a mark. I want to leave a dent in as many people’s lives that I can. So many people are too busy to capture the simplicity of life and I want to change people’s perspectives and let them see what I see.

My blog is a story. A daily story of what makes me…Me. It’s my heart typing on paper. I am creating something that will bring only goodness to this world.

The world needs more goodness. And more people that want to understand in depth what life is all about.

Just like Mr. Harris…I am blogging archives of memories that I will keep forever and eventually turn into a book. These are all inspirational stories that organize 2011 in my perspective…something I will never forget.

Every night I enjoy and need nothing but privacy and space to contemplate what my next move will be, what my next blog will be, what my next journey will be.

I hope you see what I see and take a moment and do the same thing.

Life will pass you by and in 10 years will you be satisfied with what you have done with it? Will you know what life is all about? Will you recognize the importance of simplicity and natural beauty? Will you look back and see that you made a positive impact on something or someone? Will you know why you are here? What is your purpose? Will people follow and trace your foot prints?

Do you understand time? Are you aware of life? Are you living in the moment? Are you in everyday? Are you living richly?

What good have you done today? What good will you do today?

Think about it.

Day 110: "My hump, my hump, my hump, my lovely little lumps (Check it out)"

Wednesday, April 20, 2011

Yesterday I got a 90-min massage…it was amazing...I highly recommend them to least once a month--sooo worth the mini dent in your wallet!

At the end of my day my back and legs are killing me. Many of us have desk jobs or sit in school all day and sitting for many hours at a time can just make our bodies ache!

For many people…not just the ones who have had back surgery, sitting for a long time can bring on the terrible backaches because most of the time we sit with bad posture.

At work I constantly find myself stretching every hour…we need to keep our bodies active…we need to keep that blood pumpin!

Be free all worthy spirits, and stretch yourselves, for greatness and for height.

-George Chapman

Here are some tips on helping your achy body out without disrupting the environment you are in…I do it all the time and no one notices…or they just don’t say anything.

Your posture is key…have a strait back, keep your shoulders back, and the top of your computer should be level with your eyeballs.

Stand up and stretch your sides once in a while…your body needs elasticity.

Stretch your arms over your head.

Turn your neck and stretch it out.

Roll your shoulders round and around and loosen those muscles up.

Roll your wrists around every once in a while and give them a break.

Squeeze your butt cheeks!

Repeatedly flex your abs!

When you are sitting at your desk…sit with flat feet and lift your heels up so that the balls of your feet are on the floor…make sure you hold your feet up for about 5 seconds and then lower them…repeat this as much as you can handle when you are bored.

Or you can do the opposite…keep your toes on the floor and push the balls of your feet up and repeat…little things like this can make time go by faster and even burn a little bit of calories.

Take a bathroom break more than you need one…this will give you time to take a little walk to move your muscles around and get that blood flowing…then when you get to the bathroom do some full on stretches so you don’t bother anyone…I do that all the time…it also makes the day go by faster.

Take a break from the computer every hour. Close your eyes or stare at something else for a brief moment.

My therapist stresses the importance of movement! He says when muscles remain stationary, circulation decreases, muscles tire, and in the end all the tasks you have to do  become more uncomfortable to perform because you will be full of knots, aches and pains!

So get your move on people…and play this song in your head while doing so:

Oh and DON'T FORGET TO DRINK WATER! Keep a bottle on your desk and keep on sippin all day!
