Day 364: New Year’s Resolution Idea #5

Friday, December 30, 2011

New Year’s Resolution Idea #5: Simply ENJOY LIFE more.

Isn’t it ironic that technology is advancing at such rapid speeds, ultimatley to save us time, yet we use the time we save to get MORE things done, driving our lives to be unnecessarily hectic?

For most of us, 2011 flew by so fast we forgot to dedicate time to truly enjoy the simple moments.

This year instead of rushing through tasks, make an effort to live a slower paced and more enjoyable life. Take the time to appreciate whatever you’re doing. Take the time to focus on the present instead of thinking about all the tasks you have to do tomorrow or next week.

Realize that life is full of simple little pleasures…

Get out of bed 15 minutes early so you can drink your coffee without rushing out the door and spilling it all over yourself.

Admire the sunset, after all the sun does go down every evening, how many times did you take the time to admire it last year?

Appreciate and observe the nature that surrounds you, breathe in the fresh air, and soak in the serenity and peace of the beautiful environment that surrounds you.

Sometimes it’s the simple pleasures in life that makes us the happiest-yet how many of them slipped away unnoticed in 2011?

Slowing down will lead you to a greater appreciation for life and you will notice a greater level of happiness.

Day 363: New Year’s Resolution Idea #4

Thursday, December 29, 2011

New Year’s Resolution Idea #4: Break bad habits!

We all have a “thing”; you know that bad habit that lingers in our lives that we can’t quite seem to escape. It holds us prisoner on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Well ladies and gentlemen it’s time to break free!

Whether you smoke too much, drink too much, yell too much, eat too much, are late too much, bite your nails or don’t listen enough…it’s time to FOCUS on your problems, figure them out and STOP those habits from coming back.

It won’t be easy but you’re the only one that can motivate yourself to break your bad habit. It’s not up to your friend, your neighbor or you mom to stop you from doing what you’re doing. You are your own best friend in this world and it’s time for you to man up, face your bad habits and squash them!

You’ve possibly tried to break bad habits before and failed, but don't let it get you down. It wouldn’t be a bad habit if it was easy to break! Some habits are so bad you may need professional assistance. Depending on what your bad habit is, you need to do some research. I’m sure there are a variety of support services, hotlines or classes to help you squash whatever bad habit lingers in your life.

Let me kick start you to breaking your bad habit by asking some important questions:

Why do you find your bad habit so compelling?

What’s the pay off, what’s in it for you?

What or who are losing by exercising your habit?

What do you value more your bad habit or a healthy long life?

How does your bad habit affect those people around you? Does it make them upset? Does it bring them down? Does it bring THEIR health down?

How happy are you with your bad habit lingering in your life?
….It’s time to make a choice!
Get out of denial and substitute these negative habits with positive behaviors.
Let’s be realistic there are no short cuts in life. It could take you the whole New Year to break your bad habit. But every time you feel like you’re going to slip back into your bad habit ask yourself “Should I pick a behavior that makes me feel bad about myself or a behavior that makes me feel good about myself?” I hope you will want to feel good about yourself!
This year take some quality time to focus on your own needs. The only way you will see a positive change is if you take positive action. It’s all up to you!

Day 362: New Year's Resolution Idea #3

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Isn't my sister absolutley stunning?!

New Year's Resolution Idea #3:  Get fit, and stay fit!

One of the top pledges every New Year is to get fit and live a healthier lifestyle.

If you have no idea where to start, get a trainer or visit your physician so they can point you in the right direction.

If you don’t exercise regularly, now’s your time to shine.

Research says it all! Regular exercise has been associated with more health benefits than anything else known to man. Studies show that exercise reduces the risk of some cancers, helps achieve and maintain weight loss, enhances mood, lowers blood pressure, and increases longevity!

To motivate yourself this year sign up in advance for a marathon. Use these next few months to prep yourself! It’s time to start thinking healthy. Get active, find a support system and get started!

If you dedicate some time to exercising you will soon start to notice results. Hitting the gym will keep you healthy and make you look amazing and ultimatley, you will feel better about yourself.

Start getting in shape NOW…

Day 361: New Year's Resolution Idea #2

Tuesday, December 27, 2011

New Year's Resolution Idea #2: Spend more time with the people you love.

I strongly believe that as we get older our To-Do lists get longer and longer…life gets BUSY.

And as our lives get filled things to do, we forget to prioritize what’s truly important.

This year make it a point to make time for friends and family. Vow to appreciate those you care about you most and make plans to meet up with loved ones weekly or at least once a month.

You don’t need to spend money to hang out with your friends or family. Simply hang! Spend time with each other, appreciate each other, care for each other… EVEN SKYPE EACHOTHER! Time is valuable so if you spend it with the people you really care about, it will not be wasted.

Maybe your New Year will be off to a different start… maybe you just moved and don’t really know anyone in your new location...

Well get out of your bubble and meet people! Spend time at places you have never been and introduce yourself to people. Find a sense of community wherever you are--go to a library, a block party, a bar…and if you’re too afraid to go out alone…here’s another idea:

Find a church or volunteer group and use your spare time helping others in need. There are plenty of organizations out there that could really use your help all year round. So use your resources and connect with other volunteers. There are plenty of projects out there that can fit any schedule.

Remember, the more you volunteer the more sense of community you will feel. You will probably gain plenty of great friends that share many things in common with you too!

Day 360: Week of New Year's resolution ideas!

Monday, December 26, 2011

Can you believe it? It’s the LAST week of 2011!

New Year’s Eve week has always been a common time to look back to the past and more importantly, forward to the coming year. This week is the perfect time to reflect on the changes we want and need in the upcoming New Year.

For the next couple days I’ll be blogging about New Year’s resolution ideas in hopes to inspire you to set up a motivating goal for next year.

In 2012…

Activate and exercise those long lost brain cells...

Idea #1: Vow to learn something new!

Are you happy with your job? If your answer is no, perhaps consider a career change. Research and find out what job will truly make you happy.

Is English your only language? Rosetta Store may be calling your name this upcoming year… learn and add a new language to your resume!

Start a blog about something that interests you, or read a book, or take an education course on a subject that interests you.

Learning something new is probably one of the most motivating resolutions you can keep.

Your goal can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be. There are plenty of community colleges that offer a wide variety of classes and training. But if you don’t have the cash flow for a class, you can take advantage of the internet. I have learned about tons of things online, and I’m sure you have to!

Don’t make excuses this year, get off your butt and learn something new! You're brain is hungry for new knowlege, FEED IT!

Day 359: Merry Christmas!!!!

Sunday, December 25, 2011

Merry Christmas!!!!
Sincerely give yourself NO agenda today, other than to celebrate the pure spirit of giving. Take in all the richness that every moment has to offer.
Christmas is a beautiful day. All the various customs and traditions of the season bring people together in a spirit of joy and celebration. Today is a powerful reminder of how good it can feel to connect with others in a genuine, personal and heartfelt way.
Though every family has various traditions on this day, you still have lots in common with other people. Entailed in all the diversity, similarities still exists because we are able to connect with each other in ways that are positive and fulfilling.
This special day is beautiful because of the opportunity and time we have to share with our loved and cherished ones.
On this day, give a part of yourself, and you will never lose it. That part of you takes on greater influence and value as it touches other lives beyond your own. Don’t just do this on Christmas day, live life like this every day. Experience the joy and share the joy. Celebrate every relationship that gives life so much meaning and richness.
Have a very Merry Christmas!!!!!

Day 358: Merry Christmas Eve!

Saturday, December 24, 2011

Merry Christmas Eve!

It’s a day to celebrate with close friends and family. The Christmas tree may have gifts stacked under it but remember the best give you can give someone is your time, your love, your undivided attention and care. Use all these qualities to the fullest because they are far more valuable than anything wrapped up in a colorful box.

Today give yourself freely to your loved ones. Give patience, lots of love, understanding, assistance and encouragement. In every situation that occurs today offer something valuable and positive.

There’s nothing to fight about today. Stay at peace with yourself and with others. Create a beautiful and serene environment wherever you may find yourself. Have a very Merry Christmas Eve.

Day 357: Give to yourself this Christmas Eve's Eve.

Friday, December 23, 2011

Christmas is right around the corner!
I love the last minute rush and hurry of purchasing gifts, carefully wrapping them and putting them under the tree. One of my favorite parts of Christmas is giving someone I love that special gift that I’ve hunted far and wide for (You know what I mean…on the internet, or at the giant chaotic Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall). I hand over the gift and sit on the edge of my seat with joyful anticipation... watching their face as they slowly unwrap what I’ve so lovingly bought for them. I patiently wait for the reaction in their eyes and the feeling of giving and joy and happiness overwhelms me! It’s a beautiful moment!
To me Christmas is all about others. It’s the time of year that often brings the urge to share goodwill with those who are less fortunate. It’s the season to be extra kind and caring to those who are around you. No one can deny that Christmas time produces many emotions in most of us.

But why wait until Christmas to feel these emotions? Why don’t we show these feelings all year?

Don’t wait until Christmas to talk strangers and wish them happiness. Have a “Christmassy” attitude all year long. Be cheerful, jolly and giving, whoever said to stop the cheer after Christmas day?

Let your heart grow tender not only at Christmas time but also all year long.

And hey, it’s a beautiful thing do something nice for others during this time of year, but don’t forget to do something nice for yourself too.

Whether you treat yourself to a small gift, or a nice lunch, or maybe even spend a few extra minutes on your appearance you will put yourself in a better mood.

You’ve been busy thinking about things to do to make other people feel special this holiday season, so, right now take the time to think about what makes you feel special. Add this to your To-Do list today. You deserve it!

Day 356: Understand what's going on around you

Thursday, December 22, 2011

Your world will shine even brighter when you learn to understand and accept what’s going on around you.
Take the time to be patient with others. Understand that other people’s perspectives, priorities and purposes are different from yours.
Understand that whatever you put out to this world will come back to you. The level of richness you will experience during your lifetime is equal to the value that’s flowing out from you.
Pick your battles wisely. There are plenty of battles you don’t really need to fight.  Relax, stay calm and carry on.
Learn to understand the circle of life. Recognize that loss is a common part of life. Recognize that with loss comes the ability to heal. There will always be a new beginning after a loss.
Understand that you will always have a choice. Whatever you are doing, wherever you are you will always have a choice.
Choose to live a life full of positive purpose. Do this and you will see a brighter world develop right before your eyes.
